The 37th edition of the Montreal Fringe Festival will take place from May 31 to June 20, 2027. Each year, a record number of spectators flock to more than 10 venues in the heart of the vibrant Plateau Mont-Royal.
With over 650 performances by 500 artists last year, we’re planning to welcome 100 to 110 companies through the lottery and OFF programming (bring-your-own-venue). The Montreal Fringe offers a multidisciplinary, diverse, and bilingual programming for Montreal audiences.
A record-breaking amount of over $185,000 was paid out to participating artists in 2026!

Dense & Stage is hard at work planning our new season, and we want YOU. We are happy to announce that we are doing an open call for creative roles for our 2027 season. This year Dense & Stage has programmed TWO main stage shows that will go up in 2027, with smaller top-secret engagements interspersed throughout the season!
As we are an independent collective, all positions will be participating under the Artists' Collective Policy (ACP) as seasonal collective members. What this means is that all hired members will receive an equal share of the respective production's box office revenue after expenses and, as a revenue-sharing engagement, does not guarantee a fixed fee.

About the play:
Inês lives a comfortable widow's life, isolated from her family and indulging in her hidden pleasures. However, her hermit ways prove to go too far when she misses her granddaughter's wedding, leading her family to intervene. Now Inês has to deal with her inside world and the facade she had been presenting clashing and her family's reaction.

Every performance begins long before the curtain rises. The Segal Centre is seeking a hands-on, bilingual Facilities Manager to keep our venues performance-ready across a two-site, three-building portfolio.
You'll structure preventive and corrective maintenance for HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, elevators and roofing; lead capital and renovation projects from scope through delivery; manage budgets, contracts and vendors; strengthen safety and regulatory compliance; and supervise the Head of Maintenance and external cleaning providers — all while coordinating work around rehearsals, performances and rentals.
You bring 5–7+ years in facilities, building operations, property, construction or venue management, strong knowledge of building systems and capital projects, and the ability to read technical drawings. Theatre systems and IT infrastructure experience are assets. Bilingual French/English, valid Quebec Class 5 licence, and availability for occasional evenings and weekends.

Pie-IX "Pie Nine" follows two employees of the pizzeria of the same name under as they try to thwart an investigation by the OQLF by any means possible. The play takes the audience through a hectic dinner service and crafty coverup in the bilingual metropolis of Montréal and even teaches us a few things about what Pope Pius IX held dear.
We're looking for 5 actors with experience or willingness to learn who can interpret a range of roles. This includes ones Francophone actor, 2 moderately bilingual actors, and 2 anglophones.
Some roles can be performed by any gender or as a drag role. While 2 characters are meant to be "university age," age for the casting is generally flexible.Auditions will take place on November 15th from noon to about 3PM (depending on the number of sign-ups) in downtown Montréal. The show will performed during the 2027 MTL Fringe Festival from June 9th to June 20th, 2027.

Developing Theatre
This year, NTS will explore leadership through the lens of developing new creations in Canada. How do leaders carry a project from an idea to an audience? What does new creation ask of leaders, right now, in a very challenging climate for theatre, nationally and internationally?
A national cohort of 8 leaders will spend one week together in Montreal at NTS. Leaders thrive in community, so our goal is to build connections across geography and generations: to bring the country closer together for five days, so that participants leave with new relationships and new perspectives.
Through conversations, questions and shared experiences we want to explore how we create.

It is designed as EDI consultation for companies, organizations, and individuals who have a desire to engage trans and non-binary people in an intentional way but do not yet know how or are in the beginning stages of developing this practice. Attendees from all walks of life, with any level of knowledge or experience on this topic are welcome to attend.Trans and non-binary attendees of the workshop are encouraged to participate as much or as little as they feel comfortable.

A brilliant idea may arrive in a gust of inspiration. But a strong play is built upon solid, well-planned foundations. This multi-level course will introduce new and emerging playwrights to the essentials of writing for the stage. We’ll explore dramatic structure(s), plot, character, action, and conflict with a view to each student crafting a short one-act play by the end of the course.
If you already have an idea for a play, or are simply curious about the nexus of story and stage, this course — through vibrant in-class discussion, dynamic exercises, focussed readings, monologuing and dialoguing — will prove an inspiring, anchoring and patient companion for your first steps into the world of playwriting.

Sketch Comedy is a genre of comedy popularized by the likes of Saturday Night Live, Monty Python, Key and Peele, In Living Color and more recently by Netflix’s I Think You Should Leave with Tim Robinson.
This class will teach you the skills and techniques of performing sketch comedy. Using pre-existing scripts, we will focus on bringing short comedy sketches to life, creating memorable characters, and how to best showcase the humor of any given sketch.
Students also have the option to write their own three-to-five-minute sketches. -
This 3-day weekend with interdisciplinary artist, Susanna Hood, will draw on her experience with several somatic, vocal and improvisation practices, placing creative process and creative empowerment at the heart of our dancing. Deeply informed by both Open Source Forms (OSF) – a transformative, somatic movement practice developed by Stephanie Skura in the lineage of Joan Skinner’s Skinner Releasing Technique (SRT) – and Fides Krucker’s Emotionally Integrated Voice (EIV) – a profoundly human and body-based approach to sounding – this workshop weaves together a variety of modalities to warm our bodies, our voices and our imaginal worlds in preparation for working with scores for improvisation that combine movement, voice, writing and drawing.
The workshop will be offered in a bilingual format English/French and is open to everyone.

Freedom Drama Studio is a Montréal space where youth and adults build confidence, presence, and emotional range through acting. Our courses and workshops treat drama as a practice for living, not only for the stage: participants develop physical, emotional, and social intelligence alongside scene work, improvisation, and ensemble play.
Our approach is drama therapy-inspired, using embodiment, role, and story to help participants integrate what they discover in the room into their lives beyond it. Sessions run from single evening workshops to multi-session courses, in small groups where people can take real risks and be met with care. No acting experience required.
Past programs include Scene Study: Deep Cut, Assertiveness, From Fear to Love, and Acting for Freedom.
